Your First 4th Of July

We were definitely the matchy matchy fam for the 4th of July parade

Even Sonic Guy came out for the parade

We celebrated your first holiday and your very first 4th of July.  I was never a big fan of the holiday but your dad on the other hand...well it's his favorite. I think there's quite a few reasons he loves it but mostly it's because he loves fireworks, he's so proud of his brother (Uncle Q) who's serving in the Airforce, and he loves summer and it's a great day to get out in the sunshine. Usually on the 4th we head down to Freedom Fest at the Tacoma Waterfront most often with your Auntie Abbie and sit at one of the beer gardens they have set up and watch the airshow...this year we knew it would be a little different but still fun. Last year we noticed that the neighborhood we live in puts on a parade and for the last few months your dad has been talking about taking you to participate.  I was afraid you might be too young but I couldn't veto it after seeing his excitement.  So we got all ready in our 4th of July best and your dad even decorated your car seat and stroller in streamers, blinking lights and tissue paper that was red and white.  I have to say it was great to get out and take you to your first event.  Later in the day we enjoyed another tradition and headed over to Uncle Danny's mom's house for a little BBQ and some family fun.  They were all anxious to meet you and they were amazed at how much hair you had and how mellow you were.  It was a great day but you and I were definitely tuckered out by the end so we went to bed around 10.  Your dad ended up watching the fireworks from the nearby church and then came to bed.  All in all I would call it a success and even though you slept most of the day it was so fun to have you around and to show you off.
